Popular Education: Opening Spaces for Dialogue & Liberation
Popular education is a long-term accompaniment in a shared journey of survival, resistance, and liberation. Respectful listening creates dialogue, acknowledgment, recognition, trust, and collective action. A liberatory education practice enables radical healing experiences that expand beyond the limits of individual self-care.
In this brief, we define popular education, discuss its merits, provide examples of popular education in action, and share recommendations and resources for incorporating popular education into your programming to better support dialogues and liberation.
