Coronavirus Update
As we move into a new week of sheltering in place so that we can keep each other safe, the team at The Praxis Project continues to work to center community and adjust our practices to provide meaningful support during this crisis. This has been a time of uncovering truths that our communities have long known to be there and have fought to unearth. It is an opportunity to slow down, take stock, and redefine how we organize. It has been heartening to see how people in our communities, across the country, and internationally are working together in solidarity. We are fighting not only for what is right, but for what is possible—the opportunity to come out of this and rebuild a better and more equitable and just world.
In case you missed it, you can read about our commitment in our statement and check out the resources we compiled to center community in health justice and racial equity during this time.

2020 Learning Circles and Roots & Remedies
Important Event Updates
|
Due to ongoing safety concerns in this time of the coronavirus pandemic, we will not be able to host this year's Spring Learning Circle or July's Roots and Remedies. In the place of these two opportunities for in-person convenings, we will be inviting organizations who have participated in past Learning Circles and Roots and Remedies to join us in two projects that are designed to last six months each. Participants will receive an honorarium to help cover the time required for these projects.
- Disaster Recovery Justice and Continuity of Operations Plans—This project will explore the concepts of disaster recovery from both natural (fires, hurricanes, earthquakes) and persistent (immigration policies, economic insecurity, gentrification) sources.
- Digital Storytelling—Organizations will learn from experts and each other about creating effective messaging, building a compelling story, videography strategies, and creative editing.

The Power of Community Wisdom in Advancing Health Justice and Racial Equity
Brief Release
Today officially kicks off the launch of Praxis' Centering Community in Public Health Learning Circle Brief Series! In 2017-2019 The Praxis Project convened Learning Circles, which are designed to emphasize grassroots organizers’ strengths for putting ideas into action to address issues important to our communities’ health and well-being. Praxis brought over 100 grassroots organizations together from across the country to share expertise, build relationships, encourage collaboration, discuss tools and experiences, and engage in capacity building opportunities. Resulting from the Learning Circles and community-led discussions, The Praxis Project is excited to share eight briefs in our 2020 series. Check out the brief and keep your eyes peeled for future releases every two weeks starting today. Access the brief!
